All Things Avs: Anderson in net against Habs

  • herrin · 2 months ago
    Awesome, glad Anderson is back tonight!
  • adriandater · 2 months ago
    Yeah, but I don't think Duchene is allowed in those places yet. They check IDs pretty carefully. Or so I've heard!
  • ericbeaudry · 2 months ago
    it's 18 in Canada! not 21!! :P
  • SIMON · 2 months ago
    Adrian, in Montreal, the legal drinking age is 18. Do your homework before misinforming readers. Not every country has the same rules as the U.S. Wake up!
  • Dave's A Killer · 2 months ago
    He can get in at 18, but I would think he's on a no booze, women or cola drinks order from the coaches
  • john french · 2 months ago
    I like my Avs info up to date!!! well done

    In tomorrow’s paper, we’ll have a look further into what it’s been like for Matt Duchene on his first real NHL road trip. Behind the scenes stuff.

    You should do a follow up after his first night with the team in Montreal. I hear they have some quality establishments.
  • SIMON · 2 months ago
    Yup, I live in Montreal. Big party town for hockey players.
  • Dave's A Killer · 2 months ago
    Any word on why Stewie's a scratch 3 games in a row? I know you don't want to change something if it's working, but he's a quality player.
  • mrhockeyluke · 2 months ago
    Well AD.....I'm sure being a well known top 3 NHL draft pick in a hockey city might get you into a club regardless of age...can't you drink in Canada when you're 18 anyways?
  • iandickie · 2 months ago
    It depends on the province but it is 18 in Quebec.

    Is there not a place to stream game audio for free anymore? I tried to find it at work for Monday's afternoon game and was unsuccessful. I'm working late in Boulder tonight, have no TV, and the ever-amazing 1510 sounds like someone playing electric football in a freaking wind tunnel. Following the play-by-play online blows, but I guess if that's my only option... it is what it is (cringe).

    I listened to monday's game on avalanche.com lousy Boston feed, but should work tonight too
  • WhatsUpDude · 2 months ago
    Chris, try adthe.net.. That's what I use, never get to see Avalanche games on the tv; always online. Hope it works!
  • WhatsUpDude · 2 months ago
    I meant atdhe.net

    I read someone that Budaj was scheduled to start last game...what happened that he didn't?
  • adriandater · 2 months ago
    Forgot that it's 18 in Canada to drink.

    Age varies by province, between 18 and 19 in the four provinces where there are NHL teams...

    * Alberta - 18
    * British Columbia - 19
    * Ontario - 19
    * Quebec - 18
  • Chris · 2 months ago
    Hey there it is, plain as day, thanks!
  • WhatsUpDude · 2 months ago
    That was horrible call by the ref against Kyle Quincey. Anderson had no chance of stopping that shot, by no means a soft goal.

    Chris Stewart has had enough time to prove himself in the NHL. He is a flat out bust. Please, please send this guy down and bring up someone that can actually produce in that roster spot. At first last year it looked like Stewart was going to really bring it, but he did a quick fade. He just doesn't have what it takes to be a true NHL player.
    On another note, when will Anderson get a rest in favor of Budaj? Right now, the Avs are once again on pace to give up a ton of shots vs. the Habs. Anderson's been fine so far, but he's going to wear out if the Avs don't rest him a bit more.

    You guys crack me up sometimes. You're worried about Andy playing too much, when he's playing great and it's Game 7 of the season
  • Mark · 2 months ago
    Time to sit Duchene for at least a game. If he's not going to score goals, he's not helping the team. I hope the Avs are smart and return him to his junior team for the rest of this season. He needs to get his confidence back, and that's not going to happen in the NHL at this point. Let him finish out the season in an environment that he can handle, and bring him back next season. Yeah, yeah....I know that everyone wants to see him play with the big club, but it's not good for his development to have him in a situation where so much is expected.

    Duchene is playing great. What planet is Mark on? He has assists and it is just a matter of time before he busts open. I bet he gets 20-25 goals this year. Plus the guy plays quality minutes and is a legit #2 center now. It would be nice to see him have better wingers. Mark you are uninformed....

    How about you tell us about your hockey coaching experience...i'm sure that there are a lot of people that would like to know how many years you have been coaching hockey and evaluating players.

    Mark, you're just wrong. He's doing everything right except for hitting the net. What did Joe do when he went through a scoring drought? He played absolutely fantastic defensive forward game until he got the groove back, helping the team in the way that he could. Duchene is doing exactly that: Doing everything that he can to help the team win while waiting for the groove. Incredible maturity from what I can see. Did anyone talk about benching Joe?

    Congrats to Cumiskey (1G, 1A). Fantastic game. Congrats to O'Reilly. Game-winning goal as the 1st one ever. Congrats to Jones (5 points in three games).

    Wilson has a nice, hard shot if he can get a little better control.
  • americanario · 2 months ago
    Mark, what games have you been watching?
    Sorry man, but Duchene has been an animal in many facets of the game. he's a very tough back checker on the PK, playing well in front of the net on the power play, screening the goalie, he's making good choices, good passes, and playing very good defense. He continues to get great chances on offense and it's just a matter of time before that first goal goes in for him and then he'll likely bust this game open. Duchene is here to stay, and I have a feeling O'Reilly is as well.

    AD-

    Jori had a post about our old friend Victor O making a return after retiring back in 07. Any idea how he was able to become a free agent despite the fact he "retired" and walked away from a contract he signed with us when he was coming out of junior?
