Postgame Avs-Wild – “Are you impressed enough to show up now, Avs fans?” edition
Nobody said it was going to be easy. Those other teams aren't going to lay down for the Avs if they're in first or last place. They all want points. This team will still surprise us. All teams have injuries and go on the road. Our team may be so young, they don't realize they're "supposed" to lose on the road. Any way it works out, this team is the most enjoyable Avs team I've watched since the lockout.
When do you think "fans" will start showing up for games again? This city fills other venues for other teams. I think it's sad that the current best team in the NHL can't fill the house every night. I hope this team has a great road trip and comes back to a house full of fans, fair weather or not.
One final thing. I think it is disgusting that not only the low-life Deadwing fan screams out during the national anthem, but Zetterberg and another player started skating during the anthem. Total disrespect to our military, our country, the league and the fans. Nothing one can do for idiots in the stands, but if the players think it shows me how amped up they are to play and can't wait another few seconds to start playing, they are sadly mistaken. There ought to be fines involved in situations like that. Zetterberg went down plenty of notches in my book.
You ruined what was a good post by going all Fox News on everyone.
BTW, Dreadwing or not, Zetterberg is a classy hockey player. Wish he was on our team.
And they are so dead right now. Saturated, old and slow.
Old men on skates! I love it!!!
Duchene is indeed a very nice and a "down-to-earth"- guy.
Did i mentioned that I love the 2009 Avalanche squad!?
Young, hot and successful! Go Avs!
He's a good kid!
DUCHENE - TOTAL EPIC FAILURE
Please take a look at a guy named Anze Kopitar. He came in the same year as Stastny but has not recieved much press. Take a look at who is leading the points race this year, and his name isn't Crosby, or Ovechkin. Yes, it could change, but this illustrates how little you actually understand about the game of hockey. No, he hasn't scored in bunches, yet. You don't measure a player simply by the goals they put up, but by the overall package the guy brings to the game. He is fast, has moves, and a very hard wrist shot. The KID is 18 years old and his best years as a hockey player are still in front of him. If you expected him to be Sakic overnight you need to spend more time paying attention to the game instead of your childish desire to knock the guy. Let him grow into the player he will be, that is all.
Keep it up Avs, we have a great future to look forward to as fans!
He is on pace for 34 assists, again assuming he plays all 82 games.
40 points in 82 games is not what is expected of a 3rd overall pick.
Problem is, he won't even make it to 40 points. He's more likely to get 20-30.
Send him down to juniors before he is ruined for good. He is lost on the ice. He still can't finish around the net. He still isn't setting up his teammates for scoring chances. This has been a disaster of a rookie experiment.
Stamkos, the FIRST overall pick last year, finished with 46 points after a much rockier first half than Duchene is having. Sure looks like Tampa's going to be disappointed with him, as he only has 11 points in 9 games so far this year.
You clearly know nothing about hockey or how players enter the league. Im guessing you picked up the sport around '95 and now you think you know all there is to know becasue you now read TSN and all the other hockey websites. Let me enlighten you dude, in the last few years it has become increasingly more common to allow 18 year olds to play, however this was not the case in the past. Before the likes of Crosby and Ovie, most rookies where between ages 20 to 22. After 2 full years of JR or some NCAA. If an 18 year old scores more than 40 pts that is considered a great success. At the time of Crosby and Ovie it was a bit of a surprise that Ovie had as many pts as he did. Duchene has played very well at times and at other times he has looked like an 18 year old kid trying to figure his way through a level of hockey 2 to 3 steps higher than he is used to. That is OK cause he has to learn some things that he was no doubt not going to learn back in JR. The only thing that would have benefited him was the WJC. Finaly your point that Stamkos only gets pts cause he is on a bad team is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard regarding anything hockey related. The fact that he is able to get points without any help directly points to the fact that he is a very good young player that spent his 1st year learning and now has comeback for a very strong second season. Save the hockey decisions for the people that actually know what they are doing. Save your opinions on Duchene for your C4 mens league team. (Im being generious here, I actually think MIke plays on a D1 or D2 mens league team and is the guy that doesnt tie his skates tight enough without that little hepler tool)
