All Things Avs: Smack ‘em in the mouth

  • jennyjenjen · 1 year ago
Great post, Adrian. Way to stick it to 'em! An intellectual punch in the face is the best, though I think the literal punch in the face feels better.

Ever hear that Forsberg quote back when they asked him what he thought about the ref? Waaayyy back? Something like "Domaren var så jävla kass. Jag vill dra på honom en smäll, det är sant." The ref was so damned useless. I want to punch him, truthfully.

Maybe he'll stand up for himself a little more like he did against Vancouver. And hopefully our tough guys will take cue.

    Adrian,

You obviously haven't looked at his blog all that much. Go back and check on the other writers, both national and local, he has called out for not doing simple, fifth grade research. Unfortunately, you are not alone. It has become an epidemic in the media profession.

What? I bully you and you don't smack me in the mouth? Where's the fun? Of course, you don't have much against me, so how can you?

I just hate bloggers and blogs (yes Alanis, this is ironic), but like you I enjoy stirring the pot, and do have extra time on my hands.

Typical Avs fan. Anybody who checks Floppa is a cheap-shot artist. Is Lappy a a cheap shot artist for delivering a forearm shiver to the head of Lidstrom?

    Didn't think so.

    Go play with your walrus.

I think you're correct here, and I hope the Avs coaching staff and the team agree. I was surprised on Tuesday night that Laperriere or McLeod didn't skate over the have a "chat" with Pettinger after that little knee-to-Theodore's-mask play in the second period.

They better come out a little surly. The Blackhawks just smaked the Ducks in the mouth last night and it one of the chippiest games I've seen this year. I guarantee the Ducks will come out with all sorts of hate in their game tonight.

Never hurts to say "Your Mother!" at those bullies after you've given 'em a slap, either...

as a ducks fan who sees 99% of their games (i missed 1 in 2 years) either live or on tv, i feel i must comment. the ducks are a very physical team.
they will punish opposing d-men, make you pay in the corners + in front of the net, crash the goal, and retaliate if you take a cheap shot at one of their
skill players; however they DO NOT cheap shot opposing players with the intent to injure like a boogard or other goons. with the exception of brad may (ex-avalanche) punching an unsuspecting wild payer in last years playoffs i can recall no other attempt that i would call a deliberate cheap shot. pronger certainly plays with an edge, but he does not try to intentionally injure opponents. perry is an agitator, but he receives as much as he dishes out. when the ducks fight, they stick by the code and do not hit the opponent when down unless that opponent has violated the code previously. don't make the ducks out to be goons or the current version of slapshot, because if you do you will have highly underestimated their teamwork, skill level, and game plan. you are correct about one thing, however. opponents MUST stand up to the ducks and defend their teammates, but this is true for any opponent not just anaheim.

Olongapo Joe, can you even read?? Its about protecting him, cheap shot or not. And I cant believe you are still whining about the Lidstrom hit, it was clean, even Lidstrom said it was, get over it. You dont hear anyone hear whining about the Smyth hit.

    AD,

I am really enjoying reading your new blogs. More of a "voice of the fan" if you ask me. Agree about the team being too soft in the past. I think the Codys have helped that, as Lappy isn't the only regular willing to go anymore. And Foote has always been tough as nails and a good teammate. But it did bother me that Burrows and Bieksa were able to rough up Foppa the other night with little to no retribution. Of course, in such a tight game, you don't want anyone taking stupid penalties, but it would have been nice to see those guys at least get hit real hard a few times, legally.

Take it to those Ducks. Remember, Burke was a prime architect in the Bertuzzi assault. Make him pay by punishing his band of thugs from the opening faceoff boys.

it's funny-read the O C register today - the Ducks are crying that the Blackhawks are bullies for picking on Pronger of all people - the King of the Cheapshot artists--now you are worried about the Duckbullies beating up on Forsberg--as a previous comment noted - what about Lapierre's cheap hit on Lidstrom to the head? --players are lacking in respect for eachother when they indulge in these head shots & knee on knees & hitting from behind -until the NHL punishes all offenders equally-this stuff will continue happening--let's play hockey & let the best team win--leave the goof stuff out

    Well Said!

The Ducks can be beaten, but FIRST you must out-hit them.

See you Avs in the first round!

    Jeff,

The Ducks aren't goons? What do you call Todd Bertuzzi, perpetrator of one of the most heinous, premeditated and blatant cheap shots in the history of hockey? A good guy? It all starts at the top, and Brian Burke is a collector of thugs. Why else would he re-obtain May and Bertuzzi? Give me a break. The Ducks are good. Damn good. And physical. But they also have a collection of thugs that would make the old 70's Flyers proud.

Excellent article. I do believe the Blackhawks have exposed a weakness in the Ducks. You need to smack the bully first and Throw them off their game. And, specially go after their top players.
  • mka · 1 year ago
Someone needs to remind the Ducks of the boarding call against Pronger which was never called. He's a bully and as far as I'm concerned he gets away with too much. So, treat a bully like a bully and kick them while their down. Punch him in the mouth every chance you get.

when a player CROSS-CHECKS another player, it is always intentional. Pronger loves to cross-check opponents.

Can you stop going balls-deep into farm animals?
